OUR MISSION

Personal impact is at the heart of the HeForShe movement, for our dedicated team at UN Women and for millions of advocates around the world.

UN Women

Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka is the visionary leader of UN Women, the UN entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide.

Launching a Movement

Emma Watson asked the world to take action to build a new solidarity movement for gender equality with her speech at the United Nations.

Delivering Results

As Head of HeForShe, Elizabeth Nyamayaro leads the strategic vision and daily execution of the initiative.

Our Program

The HeForShe solidarity movement was created by UN Women to provide a systematic approach and targeted platform where a global audience can engage and become change agents for the achievement of gender equality in our lifetime. This requires an iovative, inclusive approach that mobilizes people of every gender identity and expression as advocates, and acknowledges the ways that we all benefit from this equality. HeForShe invites people everywhere to come together as equal partners to craft a shared vision of a gender equal world and implement specific, locally relevant solutions for the good of all of humanity.
